Organ donors must register in person and be:
- adults 18+
- non-registered residents of Connecticut, or
- residents of other states or countries
There are currently more than 110,000 men, women and children in the United States waiting for a life-saving transplant. More than 3,400 of these individuals live in New England, and every 12 minutes another name is added to the national waiting list. 206 YNHH physicians among Connecticut Magazine's 'top docs'
Connecticut Magazine has named 206 Yale-New Haven Hospital physicians among the best in the state in its annual "Top Doctors" issue. The YNHH doctors, who provide a wide range of specialties, were among 840 doctors throughout the state selected from the results of a questionnaire sent to 5,000 Connecticut physicians and then combined with Connecticut Magazine's surveys from 2009-2011.
Advanced heart failure lecture on April 12
The Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary continues its spring health education lecture series with "Caring for Patients with Advanced Heart Failure" on Thursday, April 12. Join Abeel A. Mangi, MD, surgical director, Center for Advanced Heart Failure at Yale-New Haven Hospital, for a discussion about the latest techniques being used to treat patients with advanced heart conditions, including mitral valve replacements, ventricular assist devices, heart transplantation and coronary bypass. Head and neck cancer screening April 13
Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven will present its annual John Joe, MD, Free Head and Neck Cancer Screening on Friday, April 13, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., in the Yale-New Haven Hospital East Pavilion cafeteria special events area, lower level. Those with a history of smoking, a sore throat for more than six weeks, hoarseness lasting more than three weeks, blood in sputum or saliva, or an HPV diagnosis are invited to take part in this free 5-minute check-up from the neck up.
