New blood draw station opens in Westville on Feb. 3

Yale-New Haven Hospital’s Laboratory Medicine Department will open a new blood draw station at 1475 Whalley Ave. in the Westville section of New Haven on Feb. 3. Blood draw services are available for pediatric and adult patients. No appointment is necessary and most major health insurance plans are accepted.

Hours of operation are Monday – Friday 7 am – 5:30 pm (closed daily 12:30 – 1 pm) and Saturdays from 8 am – noon. For more information please call (203) 389–7213.

Wear Red Day is Feb. 7

In conjunction with the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day that raises awareness of heart health, Yale-New Haven Hospital's Heart and Vascular Center is holding informational fairs on Friday, Feb. 7 on the York Street and Saint Raphael campuses.

At the fairs, Yale-New Haven health professionals will provide information on nutrition, fitness, heart health and smoking cessation. The health screenings are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Alison Lucibello at (203) 688-3212 or

Informational weight-loss sessions continue in February

Yale-New Haven Hospital's bariatric program offers free informational seminars on weight-loss surgery in February. The seminars are held monthly in three locations and are geared for those who are at least 60 to 100 lbs. overweight who are at risk for obesity-related diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and gastric reflux. February sessions are as follows:

Yale-New Haven Hospital offers financial counseling to patients and families. Spanish-speaking counselors are available. Additionally, evening sessions are scheduled once a month.
