Yale-New Haven Hospital named by Becker's as a great place to work
Yale-New Haven Hospital has been named to the 2012 Becker's Hospital Review list of the "Great Places to Work in Healthcare." Becker's top 100 workplaces list recognizes healthcare organizations that create an outstanding workplace through robust benefits, opportunities for development and a strong sense of community. According to Becker's, YNHH was recognized in part due to its various programs benefiting employees including an annual merit pay program, year-end bonuses based on the hospital's overall performance, special achievement awards and several programs designed to welcome employee feedback and encourage communication between staff and management.

Skin health lecture on May 17
The Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary continues its spring health education lecture series with "Love the Skin You're In" on Thursday, May 17. Join Brett A. King, MD, PhD, attending physician, Yale-New Haven Hospital, for a discussion about everyday skin health, solutions for common problems like dry skin and itch, and the signs of skin cancer and skin cancer prevention. Destination: Yale-New Haven — 2011 annual report now available
Destination: Yale-New Haven, the hospital's 2011 annual report, shares the stories of six people whose journey brought them to YNHH. The report includes a year-end message with 2011 highlights, lists of leadership, medical staff and donors along with Yale-New Haven Hospital's financial and statistical information.
Give blood on May 17

Cancer Survivors Day event on May 19
Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven will host a Cancer Survivors Day event from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 with featured speaker Carolyn Taylor presenting "Without Borders: The Global Face of Cancer Photographs and Stories of Cancer Patients Around the World." All patients, survivors and their families are invited to attend and enjoy entertainment and kids' activities along with a cookout and picnic lunch at Yale's West Campus at 141 Frontage Road in Orange. Healthy Living Expo on May 20
On Sunday, May 20 the Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA will host its third annual Healthy Living Expo from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bartlem Park in Cheshire. The event, sponsored by Yale-New Haven Hospital, includes a SEA DOG 10k run, 5k run/walk and kids doggie dash fun run, and aims to raise awareness of health and wellness issues and showcase health-related services and products within the community to support a healthy and active lifestyle. AHA Heart Walk on June 2
The American Heart Association is dedicated to building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases—our nation's number one killer. Seventy percent of Americans don't get enough exercise, blaming lack of time and lack of motivation. Put your best foot forward and walk with Yale-New Haven Hospital on Saturday, June 2 at Savin Rock Park in West Haven. Registration is at 10 a.m., and the walk starts at 11 a.m. This 5k/3 mile walk is an event for the entire family—leashed dogs are welcome, too!
