Health System selected as a 2012 Most Wired/Most Wireless award winner

Yale New Haven Health System, including Bridgeport, Greenwich and Yale-New Haven hospitals, has been selected as one of the Most Wired Hospitals in the nation by Hospitals and Health Networks, a trade magazine published by the American Hospital Association. This recognition is based on technology advancements made by organizations to enhance patient safety, clinical quality and customer service in healthcare centers. The nation's Most Wired hospitals have demonstrated better outcomes in four key areas — infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety and care continuum.

Health, Wellness & Sports Expo, Sept. 22-23

The Health Wellness & Sports Expo 2012 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Chelsea Piers Connecticut sports complex in Stamford. Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital specialists will be on hand to offer information on children's health and sports, including asthma management, recognizing and managing concussions, injury prevention, sports conditioning and medical play with Child Life experts.

YNHHS a sponsor of 21st annual sickle cell walk Sept. 22

Sickle Cell Walk

Yale New Haven Health System is a title sponsor of the 21st annual walk to raise funds for sickle cell disease. The Southern Connecticut Chapter of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America is organizing two simultaneous walks on Saturday, Sept. 22. They will be held at East Rock Park in New Haven and Seaside Park in Bridgeport. Registration for each walk is at 8 a.m. and the walks begin at 9 a.m.

Mobile MRI at YNHH Hamden site through January 2013

Yale-New Haven is making available a mobile MRI through January 2013 at its 2560 Dixwell Ave. location in Hamden. The temporary MRI will provide convenient access to MRI services until the hospital's full-service facility opens at 6 Devine Str. in North Haven in January 2013.

The hospital's Hamden facility offers a blood draw station and full radiology services, including: bone density, CT scan, mammography, ultrasound and X-ray. Free parking is available. Hours for MRI services are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Appointments are available by calling 203.688.1010.

Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes on Sept. 23

On Sunday, Sept. 23, Yale-New Haven Hospital will support the local American Diabetes Association's signature awareness walk. The Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes helps raise money that will change the future of diabetes and the 25.8 million American children and adults living with the disease. Cancer HealthLINK: Landmark breast cancer study finds 10 strains,
revolutionizes treatment options

A recent study of 2,000 women with breast cancer found that the condition could be classified into 10 separate types. All but a handful of the tumors fell into one of the 10 categories, with each category indicating how aggressive the condition was and how it reacted to specific treatment.
