Yale-New Haven Hospital is pleased to offer a wide variety of training opportunities in clinical and non-clinical areas of the hospital.

 

Administrative Training

Yale-New Haven Hospital is pleased to offer administrative training opportunities with its Fellowship in Hospital Administration and Internship in Hospital Administration. Learn more.


Child Life Internship Program

The Child Life Internship Program at Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital provides individuals with the clinical and professional experiences required to enter the field of Child Life. At the end of the 14-week, 560-hour internship, the individual will be eligible to sit for the Child Life certification exam. Learn more.


Clinical Pastoral Education Programs 

The Department of Religious Ministries offers educational programs accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. for clergy, seminarians and qualified lay people. These programs include a full-time, stipended, nine-month chaplain residency program; a 10-week summer unit and a six-month extended (part-time) unit. There is also a three-year program of supervisory education for those interested in certification as Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisors. For further information contact: The Rev. Susan L. Diagnostic Imaging Programs

Ultrasound

The hospital provides training and clinical didactic education for ultrasonographers through its own Yale-New Haven Hospital School of Diagnostic Ultrasound, which offers a 12-month general sonography program, as well as a six-month program in echocardiography. The program is accredited by JRC-DMS and a certificate is rewarded at the completion of the program.

Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Ultrasound

Yale-New Haven Hospital is a clinical training site for several diagnostic imaging programs and has developed affiliations with Gateway Community College and Quinnipiac University providing hands-on clinical experience for academic student technologists. Dietetic Internship

Yale-New Haven Hospital offers two internship tracks: the YNHH Clinical Emphasis Dietetic Internship and the Combined YNHH Internship/Masters Degree Program in affiliation with the Graduate School at the University of New Haven (UNH). Learn more.


Elder Horizons Internships

The Elder Horizons Program at Yale-New Haven Hospital offers field placements and internships during the fall, spring and summer semesters for students who are in good academic standing. Emergency Medical Services Training

Yale New Haven Hospital operates the New Haven Sponsor Hospital Program which, in addition to providing medical direction for the EMS system in Greater New Haven, also provides a number of emergency medical services education programs. Learn more.


Graduate Medical Education

Yale-New Haven Hospital provides training for more than 700 residents and fellows in more than 60 accredited programs of graduate medical education. Medical students may check the electives offered by Yale School of Medicine. Learn more.


Other Training Opportunities

In addition to the above, Yale-New Haven Hospital participates with the New Haven public school system in the School-to-Career program and with area colleges and universities in placing undergraduate and graduate student interns and providing clinical experience for students training in occupational and physical therapy, respiratory therapy and other allied health careers.
