Tune in to support children with cancer and The Tommy Fund

Volunteers are needed during the radiothon to staff the phones and accept donations, tally the funds raised, and serve as runners for various tasks. Day and evening shifts are available: Thursday, Feb. 28, 5:30-10 a.m., 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 3-8 p.m., or Friday, Feb. 29, 5:30-10 a.m. There is a mandatory volunteer training session on Wednesday, Feb. 20 or Monday, Feb. 25 from 6-7 p.m. The volunteer training and radiothon will be held at Cox Studios in Milford. Heart wellness day on February 14

heart wellnessFebruary is American Hearth Month, marked by the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" campaign — a nationwide movement to raise awareness about women and cardiovascular disease.

The best treatment for heart disease is prevention. On Thursday, Feb. 14, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., have your cholesterol screened, blood pressure taken and diet reviewed in the Yale-New Haven Hospital second floor Atrium special events area. Hospital staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on living a heart-healthy lifestyle. The tests are free and open to everyone.

6th Annual Women’s Health Conference

women's healthGuilford’s Women & Family Life Center, in partnership with State Comptroller Nancy Wyman, a leading advocate for women’s health, will host its 6th Annual Women’s Health Conference at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa on Sunday, March 9. Sponsored in part by Yale-New Haven Hospital, the conference offers a wide variety of speakers, information booths and seminars that address topics in the areas of medicine, wellness, alternative therapies, nutrition and beauty. The conference will feature 36 breakout sessions and keynote speakers Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and Dale Atkins, PhD, a licensed psychologist with more than 30 years of experience as a relationship expert, focusing on families, couples, parenting, aging well, managing stress and maintaining balance in one's life.
