Celebrate National Volunteer Week, 75 years of volunteerism
Established in 1933, Yale-New Haven Hospital has one of the oldest organized hospital volunteer programs in the country. The hospital's 1,200 volunteers contribute more than 70,000 hours of service annually. From April 27 to May 3, National Volunteer Week offers opportunities to thank some of Yale-New Haven’s most valuable assets — our volunteers — and to recognize the many ways they improve our hospital and services.
Energetic volunteers of all ages and skills are needed. Call Volunteer Services at 203.688.2297 to learn more about available volunteer positions, or request an information packet.
Pediatric he@lthLINK: Bicycles are associated with more childhood injuries than any other consumer product except automobiles
A new study conducted by researchers at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital concludes that bicycle-related injuries among children and adolescents in the U.S. may be a more significant public health concern then previously estimated. There are risk factors in bike riding and when a child takes a tumble, injuries as minor as scraped knees and as severe as death can occur. To learn more about this study, read the latest issue of Pediatric he@lthLINK, and sign up to get future issues by email.
