Together for Kids Walk Across America in October
Join Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and Together for Kids for its first annual Walk Across America! This nationwide fundraiser will help support lifesaving programs and services at Together for Kids' 53 member children's hospitals, located in 47 cities in 31 states. The Walk Across America goal is to get enough participants involved to walk a total of 14,911 miles—the distance it would take to link all of the member hospital locations. Register for the Hackers for Hearts golf tournament Oct. 6
The 9th Annual Hackers for Hearts golf tournament will be held on Monday, October 6, at the New Haven Country Club in Hamden. Hackers for Hearts golf outing proceeds will be directed to the Heart Transplant Fund at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The funds raised directly benefit patients and help ease the financial burdens they may incur while receiving care. The cost of the tournament is $250; registration begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. Hope, Not Fear” breast cancer forum on Oct. 7
The third annual breast cancer community forum "Hope, Not Fear" will take place at the Savin Rock Conference Center in West Haven from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7. Breast cancer survivors, their families, and members of the community are invited to learn more and be updated on the latest advances in the detection, treatment and prevention of breast cancer. Auxiliary annual meeting features noted cardiologist on Oct. 15
Michael W. Cleman, MD, director of Yale-New Haven Hospital's Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and a well-known expert in cardiac catheterization, a procedure used to detect and evaluate heart conditions, will be the keynote speaker at the 56th annual meeting of the Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15. Talking About Cancer lecture series continues on Oct. 21
Talking About Cancer is a three-part lecture series presented by Yale Cancer Center and hosted by the New Haven Free Public Library. The second part of the lecture series "Pain and Palliative Care" will be held from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21 and will include a light supper. The lecture and parking is free. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In honor of national breast cancer awareness month, Panera Bread will continue its annual sale of pink ribbon bagels. This year’s proceeds — 25 cents from each pink ribbon bagel sold during the month of October—will benefit the Yale-New Haven Breast Center. Participating Panera locations include: Brookfield, Darien, Hamden, Meriden, Milford, Newtown, North Haven, Norwalk, Shelton, Torrington, and Waterbury.
In addition, the Yale-New Haven Hospital Digital Mammography Van will offer digital mammography screenings at Panera Bread in North Haven on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Walk-ons are welcome, or call 203.688.6800 to make an appointment.
