Tommy FundFor the 20th consecutive year, The Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer and Yale- New Haven Children’s Hospital are promoting the fight against pediatric cancer through the annual sale of holiday greeting cards. Tommy Fund holiday cards are now on sale at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Atrium Gift Shop and at AAA offices in Fairfield, New Haven and Litchfield counties. Cards are sold in packages of 12 for $12. Yale-New Haven receives naming gift for new cancer hospital
Yale-New Haven Hospital has received a major gift from Joan and Joel Smilow to support the new, 14-story cancer hospital currently under construction. The comprehensive patient care facility will be known as the Smilow Cancer Hospital. It will integrate all oncology patient services at the hospital and Yale School of Medicine in one building specifically designed to deliver multidisciplinary cancer care. EPA names hospital among best in New England for workplace commuters
CommuteYale-New Haven Hospital has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as one of New England’s top workplaces for innovative commuter benefits programs including subsidized mass transit, preferential parking for commuters and free shuttle service. New England’s Best Workplaces for Commuters recognizes those employers who are doing their part to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality.

Noninvasive Gamma Knife treats head and skull base disorders
The Gamma Knife Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital is the only Gamma Knife facility in Connecticut dedicated to treating head and skull base disorders with high-intensity external radiation.Using highly focused gamma rays, Gamma Knife allows surgeons to precisely target and treat abnormal areas of the brain without making an incision. Patients experience minimal pain and, in most cases, can resume regular activities soon after treatment. It is one of the most advanced techniques in the treatment of disorders affecting the brain, including benign and malignant brain tumors, head and neck tumors, vascular malformations of the brain and trigeminal neuralgia.
