BoDeans play Closer to Free and bring down the (Shubert) house (with photo gallery)

“Closer to Free” is that upbeat, carefree song that accompanies the TV and radio campaign for Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven. This summer, the BoDeans, creators of the song, were scheduled to give a concert on the New Haven Green but the threat of tornadoes canceled it. Because of its affinity for Yale-New Haven Hospital, the group came back on October 8 and gave a free concert for YNHH employees at the Shubert. While they had the audience up and dancing during the show, they saved their signature song for last and brought down the house. Looking forward to the concert are two Chapel Street Campus employees: Lissette Cartagena-Perez (left), department head secretary, Medicine, and Joyce Oen-Hsiao, MD, attending physician, Cardiology.
