In the first month of the Know Your Numbers (KYN) health screenings, more than 1,300 YNHH employees completed the first of two steps that will result in a $500 savings in their medical insurance premiums in 2014. The second step is to complete their health assessment at the ActiveHealth website, required by Friday, August 23.

A list of sites, times and appointments are available at pickatime.com and employees may also be screened by their own physicians; provider form is available at Employee Self Service (ESS). In addition, employees may be screened off-site at LabCorp Patient Service Centers, listed on ESS, where a printable voucher is also available.

At the screenings, employees are screened for: blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides and blood glucose, height, weight and body mass index and waist and hip circumference — a pre-diabetes indicator. The results are confidential.

"In addition to the premium credit, the screenings provide employees with important information about their health and they can take immediate action to improve their numbers, if necessary," said Jan Kreitler, manager of health and wellness, Compensation and Benefits. "If employees do not already have a primary care physician, we also provide a list of physicians that employees can call."

Jackie Rosado, administrative assistant, Epic Project, works at Hawley Lane, and was screened in late May.

"Online scheduling for Know Your Numbers was easy and flexible," she said, "and the screening itself went smoothly. The screening provides good information about your health and is a benefit. It's important for employees to take a break and get the information that helps them maintain their health."

On the Saint Raphael Campus on Tuesday, June 25, a Know Your Numbers information table will be staffed outside the cafeteria, 7-8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. to answer questions about KYN. Screenings on SRC begin Wednesday, July 17.
