Beginning on Tuesday, October 22, both campuses of Yale-New Haven Hospital will begin to arm their employees to fight off the oncoming flu season. The York Street Campus is sponsoring a flu fair for employees in the Max Taffel conference rooms Wednesday-Friday, October 23-25:

October 23: 7 a.m.- 7 p.m.
October 24: 7 a.m.- 5 p.m.
October 25: 7 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Beginning on Wednesday, October 30, the Saint Raphael Campus will hold daily flu vaccine clinics for employees in the Allspice Café. These sessions will be held until Thursday, November 14. A schedule will be distributed.

On the Saint Raphael Campus, vaccinations on patient care unit and clinics will begin on Tuesday, October 22 and on the York Street Campus, vaccinations on patient care units will begin on October 23.

Occupational Health Services (OHS) is also setting up flu vaccination clinics at 2 Howe Street; 300 George Street; 1 Church Street; Medical Center South; 6 Devine Street, North Haven; Shoreline Medical Center; 99 Hawley Lane; and 150 Long Wharf. Dates and times will be announced shortly.

The hospital will again use a dashboard on both campuses that tracks employees who have been vaccinated. Managers receive weekly reports with the percentages of their employees who have received the flu vaccine and those who have declined. In response to Joint Commission standards, the hospital requires all employees to complete influenza prevention training in HealthStream.

"This year — like every year — our goal is to vaccinate everyone," said Peter N. Herbert, MD, chief of staff. "Vaccinations protect all employees, their families and our patients."
