Deadline for dependent tuition loan Nov. 30

The Dependent Tuition Loan Program offers eligible employees the opportunity to borrow money to cover the cost of college tuition for their dependent children. To qualify, the employee must have completed the equivalent of at least five continuous years of full-time service, or a combination of full- and part-time continuous service. The dependent child must be under 25 years of age and enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student. The interest on the loan is paid by the hospital while the student attends school. Loan repayment begins when the child graduates or at the end of the loan's term. Employees may borrow up to $2,500 per child, per academic year, with a total maximum of $10,000 over four years. Applications are available in the Benefits Office or on the Human Resources page on the YNHH Intranet. For the spring semester, applications must be completed by Friday, November 30. Connecticut changes HIV testing guidelines

As of Friday, December 14, YNHH will no longer offer anonymous HIV testing, due to new Connecticut Department of Public Health guidelines which affect all testing sites in the state. YNHH will continue to provide rapid, confidential testing to patients seen on both the York Street and Chapel Street campuses. YNHH encourages HIV testing because early detection results in better health outcomes. Employees may call 688-3184 or 789-4135 for more information.

Dec. 10 tree lighting to kick off holidays at YNHH

The Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary invites employees, patients and the community to attend the 26th annual Holiday Tree Lighting in Hunter Courtyard on Monday, December 10, at 4 p.m. Richard D'Aquila, YNHH president and COO, will be the master of ceremonies. The tree lighting is led by a Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital pediatric patient. Light refreshments will be served. Guests are asked to consider bringing an unwrapped toy for the Auxiliary's Toy Closet program.

Employees invited to trade toys for hockey tickets

The Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary has teamed up with area college men's hockey teams to collect toys for the hospital's Toy Closet program. Employees are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Yale University vs. Brown University men's hockey game on Saturday, December 1, at Yale's Ingalls Rink, 73 Sachem Street. In addition, on Friday, December 7, guests may also exchange a new toy for a ticket to the Quinnipiac University vs. Princeton University men's hockey game at the TD Bank Sports Center, 305 Sherman Avenue, Hamden. Each game begins at 7 p.m. For more information, employees may contact the Auxiliary at 688- 5717.

Religious Ministries announces holiday services on both campuses

Employees, patients and visitors are invited to attend the following worship services on the York Street and Saint Raphael campuses of YNHH in December:
  • Chanukah candle lighting each day Saturday, December 8 through Saturday, December 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the York Street Atrium and the main entrance lobby on the Saint Raphael Campus.
  • Christmas Roman Catholic Mass on Tuesday, December 25 in the York Street Campus chapel, 9:30 a.m., and the Chapel Street Campus chapel, 7:30 a.m. and noon.
  • Christmas Protestant Service on December 25, the York Street Campus chapel, 10:30 a.m.
