YNHHS Workers' Compensation Department moves to SRC

The Yale New Haven Health System Workers' Compensation Department has moved to YNHH Saint Raphael Campus. It is now located on the third floor of the Selina Lewis building, 1450 Chapel Street. The office serves the employees of Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Grimes Center, Northeast Medical Group, Yale New Haven Health, Yale-New Haven Hospital — both York Street and Saint Raphael campuses. The manager is Diane Calello, MHA, Workers' Compensation, Compensation and Benefits. Employees who have been injured on the job may call 789-3432, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Project abstracts due Feb. 15 for May 2 safety/quality conference

The 2013 Joseph A. Zaccagnino Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Conference will be held on Thursday, May 2, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Omni Hotel in New Haven. Employees of the three YNHHS hospitals and Northeast Medical Group are invited to present projects at the conference. The deadline for submitting an abstract is Friday, February 15. Guidelines for abstract submission are available on the YNHHS Performance Management website (open the YNHHS intranet, click on Departments tab, click on Performance Management link) or from Ella McGhee, administrative secretary, YNHHS Performance Management, 688-8692, or Ella.McGhee@ynhh.org.

Volunteer Services seeks reading materials

Volunteer Services seeks pocket, hard-cover and big print books for its inpatient book cart on the York Street campus. Volunteer Services also welcomes magazines not older than six months and in good condition. Employees should deliver the books and magazines to the Volunteer Services office located in the Atrium on the York Street campus.

New online policy manager introduced to YNHH

When employees click on the Policies tab to check a YNHH policy or procedure, they now see a new landing page. The page reflects an investment by Yale New Haven Health System that directs users to up-to-date policies and procedures while giving policy owners the tools they need to easily manage the lifecycle of the documents. Both Greenwich and Bridgeport hospitals have been using the new policy manager that helps employees save time, maintain compliance and streamline policy approvals. YNHHS is increasingly standardizing policies and procedures and the software provides ready access to manuals and helps staff more easily update policies and procedures for which they are responsible. Pre-retirement workshop on February 5

YNHH is again offering an informative workshop about retirement benefits. The next Pre-Retirement Workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., in Room CH 201. Employees may attend on work time with manager approval. The workshop will cover estate planning, YNHH retirement and Social Security benefits — including when to apply for Medicare, Fidelity Investment options and maintaining a healthy lifestyle in retirement.
