Flashcards help ready employees for regulatory surveys
This is a busy year for regulatory surveys at Yale-New Haven. The Joint Commission (TJC) conducted an extension survey on the Saint Raphael Campus in February; the Connecticut Department of Public Health is expected to survey the entire hospital for licensure soon; and the TJC will return for the hospital's triennial accreditation survey in the fall. To help employees brush up on regulatory readiness requirements, the Accreditation, Safety and Regulatory Affairs department is preparing several tools. One of the newest is a set of flashcards which includes a series of regulatory related questions and answers, color-coded into categories and covering broad topics that surveyors may ask when they visit the campus. Beginning on the SRC, the flashcards are being distributed to clinical managers who share with staff during staff meetings, huddles or "quiz bowls." On the Medical Telemetry/Stroke Unit (Verdi 5 East), Peggy O'Brien, RN (right), patient service manager, shares the new flashcards with Aleshia Rousseau (left), RN, and Cynthia Kidd, RN.
