Bulletin Board Yale-New Haven ready to 'Rock and Wrap' for those in need Yale-New Haven Hospital and Rock and Wrap It Up! have teamed up to launch Hospital Wrap! This sustainability program recovers prepared hospital food that has not been served and donates it to those in need throughout the area. This summer, YNHH began donating food to community soup kitchens which dispersed the food through their agencies. The much needed donations help their clients in need while YNHH reduces waste and shares a very valuable asset with the community. In the hospital's cafeteria on York Street, Food and Nutrition Services employees (l-r) cook Joseph Thompson, assistant chef Hugh Edwards and cook Albert Sanders "wrap" selected foods that agencies will pick up. YNHH names two safety leaders Theresa Vander-Vennet (left), RN, JD, assistant general counsel, Risk Management, and Sally Roumanis, RN, patient safety specialist, Quality Improvement Support Services, are the hospital's Healthcare Performance Improvement (HPI) safety leaders. Last September, the hospital began working with HPI, a company that helps healthcare organizations nationwide improve their safety cultures. As HPI leaders, Vander-Vennet and Roumanis serve on Yale New Haven Health's System Quality Council and head Yale-New Haven Hospital's Patient Safety Committee and Quality and Significant Events Review Committee. Last year, YNHH instituted the Morning Safety Report, a key HPI initiative. During these daily meetings, hospital leaders, patient safety staff and clinical and medical leaders discuss patient safety and quality concerns, resolution and follow-up. YNHH will implement more HPI initiatives in the future.
