Newsbriefs YNHH Archives celebrate American Archives Month The YNHH Archives will host an informational table to celebrate American Archives Month on Wednesday, October 9, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 2nd floor, East Pavilion, and on Wednesday, October 16, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Allspice Café on the Saint Raphael Campus. Visitors can view archived materials as well as help identify photographs. The YNHH Archives were established in 1997 with a gift from the YNHH Auxiliary and reflect YNHH's mission of patient care, teaching, research and community service. They contain photographs, official hospital records and evidence of medical milestones. The YNHH Archives include materials from the former Hospital of Saint Raphael. On the York Street campus, the YNHH Archives are located in the Clinic Building, lower level; on the SRC, they are located in the Selina Lewis Building, lower level. YNHH Saint Raphael Campus raffle to support musculoskeletal center The YNHH Saint Raphael Campus will hold its annual Lucky 8's fundraising raffle and auction. Tickets are $125 and entitle the purchaser and guest to attend a cocktail party on Tuesday, October 8, 5:30 p.m., at Anthony's Ocean View in New Haven. Only 1,500 tickets will be sold, making the chances for winning better than the Connecticut lottery. Prizes this year include eight Visa giftcards ranging in value from $1,000 to $25,000. The money raised by Lucky 8's will support the hospital's efforts to create a musculoskeletal center on the Saint Raphael Campus. HR to hold employee fair Saturday, Oct. 19 Human Resources will again hold a Saturday career exploration information session for the convenience of employees. The fair will be held on October 19, 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m., in the special events area of the East Pavilion cafeteria. Employees who are seeking information about general and clinical college programs should consider attending. All employees are invited and must present their YNHH badge to be admitted. Representatives from a variety of schools ranging from the University of New Haven to Saint Joseph's College Online (Maine) to Gateway Community College will discuss opportunities and options for YNHH employees. Healthcare reform requires YNHH to inform employees of exchange option As required by healthcare reform legislation, Yale-New Haven Hospital has sent a letter to employees' homes announcing that the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange is available to them as an option for medical coverage effective January 1, 2014. This notice has no impact on employees' continued eligibility or medical coverage with YNHH and employees do not need to take any action. 2013 Joint Commission accreditation update conference Oct. 17 in Harkness Auditorium All employees involved in The Joint Commission accreditation process are invited to attend an update conference on Thursday, October 17, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in Harkness Auditorium. The conference will be videocast to the following locations: Bridgeport Hospital — School of Nursing Auditorium; Greenwich Hospital — Noble Conference Center; and Saint Raphael Campus — Cronin Auditorium. The educational session, prepared by VHA, will focus on changes in the continuous accreditation process, new and revised hospital standards, and national patient safety goals.
