Michael Bennick, MD, medical director, Patient Experience
Michael Bennick, MD, has been named to the new role of medical director of Patient Experience at YNHH. In this position, he will both represent medical leadership and engage them in the work around Patent Experience. He will also work with Graduate Medical Education programs to ensure that residents are educated in the principles of patient experience.
Dr. Bennick's undergraduate and graduate work focused on how individuals find meaning in the communities in which they reside and set the stage for his recognition of the critical importance of patient- and family-centered care. Dr. Bennick has been recognized as one of Connecticut's "Top Doctors" for more than 15 years. He will continue to serve as associate chief of Medicine at YNHH, a position he has held since July 2000.
Lynne Sherman, RN, MHA, director, Pediatric Specialty Centers
Lynne Sherman, RN, MHA, has been named to the newly created position of director, YNHCH Pediatric Specialty Centers. Sherman joined YNHH in 1982 as a nurse on the adolescent unit and had served as patient service manager for the specialty centers for the past 22 years.
Under her leadership, the pediatric specialty program of the Children's Hospital has grown from a single site now located on WP 2 to five sites including Guilford, Smilow Cancer Hospital, Long Wharf and Norwalk
Virgilio Handumon-Dixon, RN, PSM, Adult Psych Unit, Chapel Street Campus
Virgilio Handumon-Dixon, RN, has been named the patient service manager of Celentano 1, the Adult Psychiatric Unit on the Chapel Street Campus. He is a 20-year veteran of YNHH and has worked in the Adult Emergency Department and as an off-shift nurse leader. Most recently, he was the clinical service manager of the Adult Medicine Unit in the Primary Care Center.
Handumon-Dixon earned his BS degree with a major in nursing at the Manila Doctors College in the Philippines and his MHA at the University of New Haven.
