Hugh S. Taylor, MD, named chief of OB/GYN at Yale-New Haven

Hugh S. Taylor, MD, has been named chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine and chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at YNHH.

Dr. Taylor was previously chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at YNHH and professor and vice chair of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at YSM.

A graduate of Yale College and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, he completed his residency at YNHH, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular biophysics and biochemistry at Yale and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

He serves on the board of directors of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, where he is president-elect of the endometriosis interest group and on the governing council of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation (SGI). Dr. Taylor received the prestigious President's Achievement Award from SGI in 2008.

David Vinas promoted, director of Operations, Smilow

David Vinas, manager of Operations, Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, has been promoted to director of Operations.

In his new position, Vinas will focus on operational initiatives, strategic planning, business plan development and recruitment, and will provide oversight for non-clinical and amenities programs.

A five-year YNHH veteran, Vinas was a member of the Smilow Cancer Hospital leadership team and assisted in the design and implementation of the disease team model.

Vinas previously worked at New York-Presbyterian Hospital as the space planner. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at New Paltz where he earned a BA in international relations.
