Catherine Lyons, executive director, Smilow Cancer Hospital Patient Care Services

Catherine A. Lyons, RN, MSN, clinical program director, Smilow Cancer Hospital, has been promoted to executive director, Smilow Cancer Hospital Patient Care Services, which now includes 118 inpatient beds and nine Smilow Cancer Care Centers.

Prior to starting her career at YNHH in 2010, Lyons was the associate director of clinical services and nursing at the University of Rochester, James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, in Rochester, NY. In 2002, she served as chief of the Office of Clinical Trials Support and Research Nursing in the Center for Cancer Research at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD. She also served as director of nursing at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY, where she worked for 25 years.

Lyons earned her BSN at Niagara University and her MSN at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is board-certified by the American Nursing Association as a Nurse Executive-Advanced.

Kathleen Maturo, MPA, associate director, Geriatric Services

Kathleen Maturo has been promoted to associate director, Geriatric Services.

Maturo joined YNHH in 1981 as a medical information secretary in the Medical Records Department. Over the years, she worked in several different roles before joining the Adler Geriatric Assessment Center in 1996 as program coordinator.

In 1999, she became manager of the Adler Center and YNH Nursing Home Practice (NEMG YNH Geriatric Services). She has helped develop and expand the Adler Geriatric Assessment program and was most recently involved with the planning and integration of geriatric services across YNHH. In her new position, Maturo will provide oversight for all outpatient geriatric services on the York Street Campus.

Maturo earned her bachelor's degree in healthcare administration in 1998 and in 2001 completed her master's degree in public administration — healthcare administration, both at the University of New Haven.
