Lynelle Abel, director, Volunteer Services

Lynelle Abel has been named director of Volunteer Services for YNHH, overseeing a department with more than 2,400 volunteers who contribute more than 200,000 hours annually.

Abel began volunteering at YNHH in 1976, and later held various positions at the hospital before becoming Volunteer Services assistant in 1983. She joined the former Hospital of Saint Raphael in 1987 to launch its senior membership program, CareCard. She was named Saint Raphael's director of Volunteer Services in 1990. With the 2012 Saint Raphael integration, Abel became associate director of Volunteer Services for YNHH, with responsibility to integrate the two campuses' Volunteer Services departments.

Abel earned her BS in human services from Southern New Hampshire University and her MA in industrial/ organizational psychology from the University of New Haven. Under her direction Saint Raphael's Volunteer Services department received numerous awards for program development, including the American Hospital Association Society of Directors of Volunteer Services "Extraordinary Program Award" for the HOPE program, which prepares community members to enter or reenter the workforce.


Jennifer Ghidini, APRN, interim director, Medical Critical Care Services

Jennifer Ghidini, APRN, interim director, Medical Critical Care Services

Jennifer Ghidini, APRN, MSN, has been named interim director of Medical Critical Care Services and Specialty Programs.

She will oversee programs such as the Tele-Intensive Care service and dialysis services, and lead key initiatives, including pressure ulcer reduction and standardization of diabetes programs hospital-wide.

Ghidini joined YNHH in 2003. She served as the patient service manager for two general medicine units in 2006, then joined the Medical Intensive Care units on the York Street Campus in 2010. She is board-certified by the American Organization of Nurse Executives and was an AONE fellow in 2011. She received the hospital's Nursing Excellence Award in Management in 2012. Ghidini earned her BS degree, and an MS, family nurse practitioner degree from the University of Maryland- Salisbury University; and is a member of the Yale School of Management Leadership Development Program.


Jessica Nuzzo, performance manager, Quality Improvement Support Services

Jessica Nuzzo, performance manager, Quality Improvement Support Services

Jessica Nuzzo has been named performance manager, Quality Improvement Support Services. In this role she will coordinate and enhance data related to value-based purchasing, quality and accountability metrics and hospital-acquired infections.

Nuzzo joined the hospital in 2012 as a quality improvement specialist after seven years in various quality improvement roles at VA Connecticut Healthcare System. She earned her BS degree in health policy and administration from Pennsylvania State University and her MPH, with a concentration in health management, from Yale University.
