Derek Steinbacher, DMD, MD
Derek Steinbacher, DMD, MD, has been named director of Dental Services, Oral Maxillofacial, Facial Plastic, and Cleft/Craniofacial Surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. In his new position, he will lead a multidisciplinary team at both hospital campuses and outpatient facilities to enhance these services. Dr. Steinbacher earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed residencies in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. His clinical interests include rhinoplasty, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, nasal and facial reconstruction and the spectrum of cleft and craniomaxillofacial surgery. Dr. Steinbacher is director of the Craniofacial Center at Yale School of Medicine and an associate professor of surgery (plastic) and pediatrics.
Brooke Spadaccino, RN, BSN
Brooke Spadaccino RN, BSN, has been named patient service manager, Musculoskeletal Center Unit (Verdi 4 North). She joined YNHH in 1997 as a student nurse on the Orthopedics Unit (EP 7-7), and later became assistant patient service manager. She served in that position for eight years before being named interim patient service manager of the new Musculoskeletal Center Unit in November 2013. Spadaccino earned her BS in nursing from Southern Connecticut State University and is pursuing her MSN at Sacred Heart University. She is a certified orthopedic nurse and received the Nursing Management Excellence Award in 2011.
