With demos, monitors and laptops, Epic kicks off on Saint Raphael Campus ...

Epic officially launched on the Saint Raphael Campus with a well-attended kick-off in the Cronin Conference Room on November 8. At the fair, employees from many disciplines stopped in to learn how a patient's data from biomedical devices is electronically transmitted to his or her electronic medical record in Epic. Nurses were interested in learning about MyChart — the messaging portal for patients and their doctors and nurses. In MyChart, patients are able to make or change a doctor's appointment and ask questions about medications. In addition, employees used a laptop to see what Epic EMR looks like from the point of view of an inpatient or an outpatient. Three members of Heart and Vascular Center Radiology Nursing listened to Kris Rodgerson (right), supervisor, clinical integration, explain how data is transmitted from the biomedical device and automatically documented in the patient's chart. Shown (l-r) are: Gary Griswold, RN; Tami Chomicz, RN, nursing care coordinator; and Stephen Harper, RN. Epic will go live on the York Street Campus on February 1 and on the Saint Raphael Campus on June 1.
