The Yale-New Haven Hospital Nuclear Cardiology and Stress Lab offers patients the best clinical cardiovascular imaging available. Many of the radionuclide imaging and stress lab techniques used widely throughout the world today to diagnose heart problems were developed here.
Performing more than 7,000 studies a year — almost 20 a day — the lab is available to both inpatients and outpatients. Many of the studies are done in conjunction with physical or pharmacological stress testing, and most stress tests are performed with radionuclide imaging. The lab also does cardiopulmonary testing.

In addition, the lab provides for the development and translation of new targeted molecular imaging, for personalized medical care.
On average, four to five patients a day are evaluated for acute chest pain by either resting SPECT imaging or stress-testing in the Hospital’s dedicated Chest Pain Center in the Emergency Department.
