Valve Repair and Replacement

Dr. Hashim

Sabet Hashim, MD, Director of Cardiac Valve Surgery

Most isolated aortic replacement and mitral valve repair are performed using the minimally invasive technique. Dr. Hashim’s cases exceed 1,000 mitral repairs with no in-hospital mortality over the past five years.

Yale-New Haven Heart and Vascular Center’s valve surgery program has a national reputation for clinical excellence. In 1984, Yale-New Haven Heart Center became the first center in Connecticut and one of few in the country to perform mitral valve repairs. Yale-New Haven Heart Center has vast experience with complex combined valve procedures, including multiple valve repair, valve repair/replacement with CABG, and valve repair/replacement with other cardiac procedures, with some of the highest success and lowest complication rates in the country.

Mortality and complication rates consistently compare favorably with national statistics.
