Applying for Residency and Fellowship Programs

Detailed information concerning all of Yale-New Haven Hospital and Yale School of Medicine's residency and fellowship programs may be found on their individual residency pages (see Program List for brief descriptions and links to Yale medical departments).

Applying to Our Programs

All ACGME and non-ACGME clinical fellows employed by either Yale-New Haven Hospital or Yale University must complete a Clinical Fellow Application and beapproved before beginning work in any capacity. More information can be found on the Department of Physician Services Web site.

National Resident Matching Program

The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) is a private, not-for-profit corporation established in 1952 to provide a uniform date of appointment to positions in graduate medical education (GME) in the United States.

Electronic Residency Application Service

Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) is a service that transmits applications, letters of recommendation (LoRs), Medical Student Performance Evaluations (MSPEs), medical school transcripts, USMLE transcripts, COMLEX transcripts and other supporting credentials from applicants and their designated dean's office to program directors. ERAS consists of MyERAS, Dean's Office Workstation (DWS), Program Director's Workstation (PDWS) and ERAS PostOffice.

San Francisco Matching Program

Since 1977, The San Francisco matching program has coordinated the processing, distribution and review of applicants for postgraduate medical education training programs. The service currently administers applicant review and ranking processes for positions in both residency and fellowship specialties, as well as several subspecialties.
