The GMEC will monitor and advise on all aspects of resident education, as required by the ACGME. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight of program job descriptions, progressive responsibilities during training, and monitoring quality and safety of patient care, treatment and services provided by participants in the GME programs.

Policy
- The GMEC shall report to the Chief of Staff of Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Dean of Yale School of Medicine.
- The GMEC must meet at least quarterly and maintain written minutes. (See GMEC Committee Members page.)
- The Designated Institutional Official (DIO) shall report annually on the activities of the GMEC, as mandated by the ACGME requirements, to the Medical Board of the Medical Staff of Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Medical Committee of the Board of Trustees of Yale-New Haven Hospital.
