Women's Heart Program
The Women's Heart Program at YNHH is dedicated to helping women assess their risk of heart attack and recognize its signs and symptoms. Launched in March 2001, the program continues to improve overall outcomes for women with heart disease through education and community outreach. Our experts are available to speak at corporate and community events to raise awareness about the prevention, early detection and treatment of heart disease in women. Learn more
Many former cardiac patients and caregivers provide volunteer support services for families of the YNHH Heart & Vascular Center. Their unique perspective and experience is an invaluable resource for those diagnosed with heart disease. From going to patients' rooms to stationing themselves in visitor lounges, our peer volunteers are always available to listen and offer advice and inspiration.
Cardiomyopathy Patient and Family Support Group
The cardiomyopathy patient and family support group meets (date/time/place). Group sessions offer education and information on issues affecting adult cardiomyopathy patients and their family members as well as open discussion and peer support around the psychological impact of the diagnosis. A peer family mentor volunteer provides information, outreach and peer support as needed for new members, and assists with some administrative aspects of group process, including planning for group meetings and recording of group minutes. Heart Transplantation Support Group
Our Heart Transplant Team meets monthly to connect patients and families who are waiting for hearts with those who have already experienced heart transplant surgery. These volunteers can offer valuable insight and support during this stressful time. Get times and locations
