Each year, Yale-New Haven Hospital Heart and Vascular Center treats more heart and vascular patients than any other facility in Connecticut and performs virtually all cardiac and vascular procedures currently available worldwide.

Cardiovascular Medicine

The Cardiovascular Medicine Program at Yale-New Haven Hospital boasts a long history of innovation. In fact, nuclear cardiology as we know it today was pioneered by our own Barry Zaret, MD. We provide comprehensive cardiovascular care, including cardiovascular imaging (CT, MRI and echo), nuclear cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and heart failure/transplantation surgery.

Center for Advanced Heart Failure

The center provides comprehensive evaluation, management and treatment for patients with heart failure. It is the model for innovative, evidence-based medical care, where a collaborative multidisciplinary partnership is practiced and patients have access to the full spectrum of life-saving heart care, ranging from the least-invasive drug therapies to state-of-the art surgery, including transplant.

Cardiothoracic Surgery

The team at YNHH's Heart and Vascular Center performs the entire spectrum of open-heart procedures available for adults and children with an unsurpassed level of quality and safety. We consistently rank between the 93rd and 100th percentiles nationally in all categories of safety for many procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacement, aortic valve replacement, and combined procedures.

Surviving Heart Failure

Three patients describe their treatment at Yale-New Haven Hospital's Center for Advanced Heart Failure. Greg Kelly, Frank Coteron and Bob Tilton each faced life- threatening heart conditions, but were able to resume normal living after complex procedures performed by Yale-New Haven Hospital surgeons.

Non-invasive Cardiovascular Imaging

Diagnostic radiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital provides comprehensive imaging and image-guided interventional heart and vascular procedures. Our cardiac MRI program is one of the few nationally accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), meeting or exceeding strict standards for education and training of physicians and technologists, as well as requirements for quality control and safety.
