The scope of services includes outreach, testing, counseling, outpatient and inpatient clinical care, clinical research trials and community support. The AIDS Care Program is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, physician assistant, nurses, HIV counselors, social workers and clinical researchers.
HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral Program
The AIDS Care Program offers free, confidential and anonymous HIV testing at the Alternative Test Site (ATS) and on the Community Health Care Van (CHCV). We also offer confidential testing in the YNHH Emergency Department (ED) for patients who are seeking medical care in the ED. Rapid, routine and traditional testing is provided.
Connecticut changes HIV testing guidelines
As of December 2012, YNHH will no longer offer anonymous HIV testing, due to new guidelines from the Department of Public Health which affect all testing sites in Connecticut. However, YNHH will provide confidential (using name, address, etc.) rapid testing to adults and teens who are registered in our Primary Care Center and Women's Center. YNHH strongly encourages HIV testing as early detection results in better health outcomes. Please call 203.688.3184 for more information.
