Expertise

The sleep medicine team includes physicians from the Yale School of Medicine who are internationally recognized for their expertise in the sleep medicine field. These clinicians are board-certified in sleep medicine in addition to internal medicine, pulmonary disease, neurology and pediatrics. Our registered polysomnographic technicians have extensive experience monitoring sleep disorders.

Sleep Medicine Program

The Sleep Medicine program offers comprehensive diagnostic testing and treatment services for those who are unable to get a restful night sleep. As an interdisciplinary program, clinicians work closely with a network of specialty providers who are board-certified in bariatric surgery, cardiology, dentistry, neurology, otolaryngology and psychology. The program is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

The sleep medicine team diagnoses, treats and manages the following conditions and sleep-related disorders.

  • Evaluation of patients with heart failure and stroke
  • Excessive sleepiness
  • Insomnia
  • Movement disorders during sleep
  • Narcolepsy

Research and innovations

The clinicians at the Sleep Medicine Center are at the forefront of research on cardiovascular and stroke complications of sleep apnea; and the ways of reducing the risk of these conditions.
