NEW HAVEN — Yale-New Haven Hospital has been named as one of the top hospitals in the United States, according to
U.S.News & World Report's annual "America's Best Hospitals" rankings, which are accessible today online and will be published in the August issue of the magazine. For the first time, YNHH had a total of three specialties ranked in the nation's top 10: diabetes and endocrinology (8), geriatrics (9) and psychiatry (10). YNHH is the only hospital in Connecticut to be ranked as a top hospital in any of the 16 medical specialties.
"We are delighted once again to have 12 specialties — including three in the absolute top tier — recognized by U.S. News & World Report," said Peter Herbert, MD, chief of staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital. "We have wonderful, skilled physicians, nurses and staff absolutely dedicated to providing safe, high-quality care to our patients; recognition on the U.S.News list is a direct reflection of their hard work and commitment to the best patient care."
In addition to its three top 10 ranked specialties, Yale-New Haven also ranked among the very best in the nation in nine additional medical specialties: cancer; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology; gynecology; heart and heart surgery; kidney disorders; neurology and neurosurgery; pulmonology and urology.
