Beginning the week of October 22, both campuses of Yale-New Haven Hospital will begin to arm their employees to fight off the oncoming flu season.
The York Street Campus is sponsoring a flu fair for employees Tuesday-Thursday, October 23-25, in Max Taffel, Rooms A-D, 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. The Chapel Street Campus will hold daily flu vaccine clinics for employees in the cafeteria during the week of October 30. On both campuses, vaccinations on patient care floors and clinics will begin the week of October 22.
Occupational Health Services (OHS) is also setting up flu vaccination clinics at 2 Howe Street, 300 George Street, 1 Church Street, Medical Center South, North Haven, Shoreline Medical Center, 99 Hawley Lane, and 150 Long Wharf. Dates and times will be announced shortly.
The hospital will again use a dashboard on both campuses that tracks employees who have been vaccinated. Managers receive weekly reports with the percentages of their employees who have received the flu vaccine and those who have declined. In response to Joint Commission standards, the hospital requires all employees to complete influenza prevention training in HealthStream.
"Our goal is to vaccinate everyone," said Peter N. Herbert, MD, chief medical officer. "Vaccinations protect all employees, their families and our patients."
