Yale-New Haven Hospital Selected by The Learning Channel to be Featured on Cable's "TRAUMA: Life in the ER" Documentary Series

For more information, call 203-688-2493 or E-mail Mark D'Antonio

Yale-New Haven Hospital has been selected as a featured hospital on The Learning Channel's (TLC) cable docudrama "TRAUMA: Life in the ER."

Yale-New Haven Hospital was selected to be the first hospital in Connecticut and in New England by the producers of the show based upon several criteria. First, TLC examined the volume of trauma cases at Yale-New Haven Hospital annually. In addition, TLC prefers to focus on teaching hospitals and highlight the interaction that takes place between residents and the faculty. Finally, TLC chose Yale-New Haven Hospital based upon the fact that YNHH has the only Level One trauma centers for both adults and pediatrics in Connecticut.

"We're very excited and honored to have TLC here to showcase the exceptional work of our adult and pediatric emergency departments," said Bill Gombeski, administrative director of marketing and communications at Yale-New Haven Hospital. "The show's solid reputation and commitment to the highest quality of programming is only exceeded by the esteem in which the show is held by hospital people."

"TRAUMA: Life in the ER" can be seen each Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. It is one of the highest rated shows on cable and has received acclaim for the accurate portrayal of the real-life drama and emotion that emergency departments face on a daily basis. The show is currently in its sixth season of production.

For more information regarding the taping at Yale-New Haven Hospital, please call (203) 688-2493.

NOTE: The first of two episodes, "Keeping the Faith: Yale-New Haven Hospital," will air Monday, October 15, 8-9 p.m. ET/PT. Check local cable listings for The Learning Channel (TLC). Please note the show has moved to Monday nights.
