Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Yale-New Haven Ambulatory Services Corporation have received approval from the Connecticut Office of Health Care Access to establish the Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center (YNHSMC) at I-95, exit 59 in Guilford, Conn. The Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center will serve Guilford, Madison, Clinton, Killingworth, Deep River, Essex, Westbrook, Old Saybrook, Branford and North Branford.

"We are pleased to be able to expand Yale-New Haven's service to Shoreline residents with the opening of the Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center," said Joseph A. Zaccagnino, president and CEO of Yale-New Haven Hospital.

This Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center will offer a wide range of services that will enhance health care for Shoreline residents.

  • Ambulatory surgery services will be available to meet surgical needs that do not require hospitalization.
  • Endoscopy suites will offer gastroenterology services and increase the availability of screening as well as treatment procedures.
  • Cancer patients will be able to receive therapy close to their homes.
  • Emergency services will be available locally with the knowledge that patients can be quickly transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital or another hospital when required.
  • Radiology (MRI, CT scanning, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, diagnostic X-ray, bone density and mammography) and laboratory services will be offered at the center.
  • Pre-admission testing and health education programs such as nutrition counseling, breastfeeding, childbirth preparation and CPR training.
  • Physician office space will be available in the building.

The Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center will be located at 111 Goose Lane in Guilford. Construction for the center is anticipated to begin in late spring 2003 with the opening to take place in spring 2004.
