Yale-New Haven Hospital news release North Haven quilters donate handmade quilts to Yale-New Haven Children’s HospitalNEW HAVEN — A group of talented and charitable quilters recently presented to Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH) 12 handmade quilts for pediatric patients. Approximately 30 quilters from Quadrille Quilting in North Haven had a hand in making the child-size quilts. The quilters were inspired by 9-year-old Tyler Cali, a third-grader at Moses Y. Beach Elementary School in Wallingford, who received a quilt while he was a patient at YNHCH. “The quilts add a touch of home to the patient’s hospital rooms,” said Ellen Good, manager, child life at YNHCH. “The children are especially thrilled to be able to take the quilt home once they are discharged.” Shown with some of the handmade donations (l to r) are: Wallingford residents, Jackie Cali; her son, Tyler; Marianne D’Eugenio, owner of Quadrille Quilting; and Ellen Good, manager, child life. Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, with 201 of Yale-New Haven’s 944 beds, offers the region’s largest and most comprehensive array of maternity and pediatric services, including newborn special care and maternal special care units, a 19-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 24-hour pediatric emergency room, pediatric surgery center and a pediatric clinical research unit.
