Yale-New Haven Hospital news release Henry S. Cabin, MD, named medical director of YNHH Heart and Vascular Center
Dr. Cabin has served his entire medical career at Yale-New Haven and Yale School of Medicine, save three years as a clinical associate at National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Since 1994, Dr. Cabin has held the position of associate section chief of cardiology at YNHH and associate chair, department of internal medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He also serves as director of the coronary care unit at Yale-New Haven, a position he has held since 1982. A professor of medicine and pathology at Yale school of Medicine, Dr. Cabin received his medical degree from Yale and served his residency training and clinical fellowship in cardiology at YNHH. Yale-New Haven Heart and Vascular Center is a national pioneer in developing new heart treatments and therapies. As Connecticut's premier referral center, the center receives some of the most difficult heart patients from throughout New England - patients who come for heart transplants, high-risk valve or bypass surgery and angioplasty, as well as those who have multiple problems or undiagnosed heart problems requiring an expert cardiologist. Named among New York magazine's "best doctors for 2007," Dr. Cabin is board certified in internal medicine with subspecialties in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He and his wife, Laura, are the parents of three children, one of whom is a third-year medical student at Yale. They reside in Woodbridge. Yale-New Haven Hospital is a 944-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine. Yale-New Haven was founded as the fourth voluntary hospital in the U.S. in 1826 and today, the hospital complex includes Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, with a combined medical staff of about 2,400 university and community physicians practicing in more than 100 specialties.
