Under the direction of Jennifer Kapo, MD, the Palliative Care Service provides comprehensive interdisciplinary care to patients and their families. Each patient consultation includes a thorough review of the medical history, a physical examination, and a discussion of the symptoms and goals of the patient and his/her family. Ongoing evaluation and follow-up care is then provided as needed.
Our palliative care team specializes in end-of-life supportive care which may include issues such as pain, nausea, shortness of breath, fatigue, medication and/or treatment side-effects. The team also addresses psychosocial issues such as depression, anxiety, disruption of family life and financial concerns. Social work services and spiritual support for the patient and his/her family is also offered.
