Sleep Health Program

Four percent of adults do not get a good night’s sleep because of sleep apnea, which causes breathing to “pause” intermittently. At Yale-New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael Campus, patients in our program are referred by their physician and then evaluated by our board-certified sleep physician to determine if in-home testing is appropriate.

Sleep Health Program

Sleep disorders

Sleep apnea and other sleep disorders can lead to neurocognitive impairment, such as excessive sleepiness, fatigue, poor concentration and memory loss, as well as cardiovascular complications, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack, atrial fibrillation and stroke.

Symptoms include:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Loud snoring
  • Pauses in breathing during sleep

Diagnosis and Treatment

In-home testing involves a small, portable monitor to collect information about your sleep patterns. This proven way to diagnose sleep apnea is less expensive and more comfortable than an overnight stay in a laboratory, which other programs recommend.

Our Sleep Health Program offers comprehensive treatments, from testing through long-term care. We keep your referring physician informed each step of the way.
