Wound Management and Infectious Disease Services

Specialists in this outpatient care center diagnose, treat and manage a range of chronic or non-healing wounds as well as infectious diseases. Physicians and nurses in the center have special expertise in dealing with complications of vascular disease and diabetes. Specialized wound care includes debridement (removing nonliving tissue from pressure ulcers, burns, and other wounds to speed healing), grafting and using compression dressings as appropriate.

The service also provides specialty care for a wide array of infectious diseases. Patients are generally seen after referral from another physician. Our board-certified providers in internal medicine and infectious disease can manage common and unusual diseases, including chronic sinus and pulmonary infections, skin and soft tissue infections (including MRSA), recurrent urinary tract infections and complications of diabetes and vascular disease. Providers have expertise in Lyme disease, tuberculosis and orthopedic infections. For patients requiring intravenous antibiotics, therapy can usually be initiated without hospitalization.

Whether patients need wound or infectious disease care, they are managed in close collaboration with their primary physician. The service will try to accommodate urgent visits whenever possible.

Physician referrals and appointments are necessary, so please call in advance.
