Important Notice About Visiting
If you have been exposed to an infectious disease like chicken pox, tuberculosis, measles, mumps, pneumonia or the flu, please refrain from visiting or speak with the patient's nurse before visiting the hospital.
Yale-New Haven Hospital welcomes and encourages family and friends to visit patients. In fact, we believe that spending time with loved ones is a powerful part of the healing process.
For the safety of our patients, their caregivers and visitors, we ask you to limit visits to the hours specified below. Times and rules vary depending on the floor or unit you are visiting.
Friends and relatives may call the hospital's patient information line at 203.688.4177 at any time to find out a patient's room and telephone number.
General Visiting Hours
11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Please obtain a pass from the Information Desk on the first floor, near the main hospital entrance at 20 York Street each time you visit.
Intensive Care Unit
Anytime
Immediate family members may visit patients in the intensive care unit any time, day or night. Visits are limited to two to four members at a time.

Emergency Department
First 15 minutes, each hour
One visitor per patient is allowed in emergency patient rooms for the first 15 minutes of each hour. Visitors must return to the waiting area for the remaining 45 minutes.
Exceptions or suspension of visitation rights will be made at the discretion of emergency medical and nursing staff.
Please obtain a pass from the emergency room information desk when you visit. Make sure your visitor's pass is visible at all times.
Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital/Pediatrics
Moms, Dads & Grandparents: Anytime
Siblings: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Friends & Other Relatives: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
All sibling visits must be arranged with the primary care nurse. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Please obtain a pass from the Information Desk on the first floor of the Children's Hospital or near the main hospital entrance at 20 York Street each time you visit. A "Special Visitor Pass" is available for parents, eliminating the need to stop and get a pass every visit. Stop by the Children's Hospital Admitting Office for more information.
Newborn Special Care Unit
Moms, Dads & Grandparents: Anytime, with mother (call first)
Siblings: Anytime, with parent
Friends & Other Relatives: Anytime, with parent
