Six decades of care
When I was eight years old in 1939, I had an appendectomy. I was in the hospital (Fitkin 4) for over a weekstandard procedure at that time. I had never been away from home before and was terribly homesick, but a lovely R.N., Miss Becktal (not sure of the spelling) was kind and caring. I am 69 years old and have never forgotten her.
Dr. Louis Claiborne was my doctor. He was, at that time and for many years after, one of New Haven's most famous and beloved surgeons.
My six children were born in Yale-New Haven.
