Parents and family members are never considered visitors at the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. Instead, they are an integral part of the care team. Others will need passes from information desks located at either the Children's Hospital entrance or the York Street entrance.


General pediatric visiting hours

Parents or guardians: Anytime*
Brothers and sisters: 11 am - 8 pm (arranged with primary nurse)**
Other visitors: 11 am - 8 pm (children must be accompanied)**

* If you decide to stay in the evening past 9 p.m., please ask a staff member for an access code to the elevators. 

** During flu season, visiting is restricted for children under 12.


Pediatric intensive care unit visiting policy

Parents and guardians can be with their child at any time and are encouraged to room-in by their child's bedside.


Newborn special care unit visiting policy

Parents may visit at any time. For family member, guests and sibling visits, parents should speak to their infant's primary nurse for further details. All visitors must wash their hands before entering the nurseries and leave personal items in a family locker outside the nurseries.


Children's emergency department visiting policy

Parents have unrestricted visitation.
