to a very special place--a place where parent and child are at the heart
of all we do. Each area of the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital (YNHCH) places as much emphasis
on a child's emotional needs as it does on caring for a child's illness.
A toy train in the lobby and expressive children's art say this is a hospital where children of
all ages can feel welcome and safe.
Historically, Yale-New Haven Hospital has cared for more children than any other hospital in Connecticut. YNHCH opened in 1993 as Connecticut's first comprehensive children's hospital. Inpatient, outpatient, emergency, primary and preventive care is provided to thousands of children and the hospital serves as one of New England's major referral centers for diagnosis and treatment of pediatric problems.

Donations for children
Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital (YNHCH) gladly accepts
donations of new infant, children and teen's clothing, play equipment, toys and
games. For purposes of infection control, the Children's Hospital can only accept
new items. However, the hospital's Reach Out and Read program does accept
gently used books, as well as new books.
To donate new items to Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, please contact:
- Child Life (new clothing, toys, games, play equipment)
- Reach Out and Read (new and gently used books)
- Community and Government Relations (items for school partnerships)
- Development (individual and special gifts, cash and comparable donations)
