Children's Hospital Parking

Patient parking
For general inpatient admissions to the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, 30-minute parking is available at the entrance to the Children's Hospital on Howard Avenue. After admission, park in the Air Rights Garage. Free parking is available at the entrance to the Pediatric Emergency Department on Howard Avenue for individuals bringing children in for emergency treatment.

Visitor parking
Visitors to the Children's Hospital may park 24 hours a day in the Air Rights Garage above York Street. Hourly, half-day, daily and monthly rates are available. The New Haven Parking Authority, (203) 946-8936, can provide current rate information. Special parking spaces for disabled visitors are located next to the elevators on each parking level in the garage. A covered pedestrian walkway connects the second level of the garage to the hospital's York Street entrance.

Underground parking
Located on York Street, underground parking may be used by pediatric patient visitors between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays, or between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends and holidays for a flat $7 rate.

On-street parking is not recommended. For your safety, we recommend that you park in a lot or garage. Hospital garages and parking lots are staffed by YNHH Security Services are well-lit and electronically monitored.

A limited number of reduced rate parking permits are available for families of patients who have extended hospitalizations and experience financial hardships. If you wish to be considered for this service, please ask your floor's nurse manager or social worker to contact the parking office.

Attendant Parking
The parking garage under the Children's Hospital (entrance on York Street near Howard Avenue) may be used by families with appointments in:

• Pediatric Specialty Center
• Pediatric Diagnostic Imaging
• Pediatric Rehabilitation

Upon entering the garage, drive to the elevator area where an attendant will meet you, collect your parking fee, assist you to the elevators and park your car. When you return to the elevator lobby area in the garage, the attendant will retrieve your car.

The fee for this service is $3 if your visit is less than one hour, and $7 if it is more than an hour.

Valet Parking
A special valet parking service is available for pediatric patients who are arriving for:

• Pre-admission visits ($8)
• Same day admissions ($8)
• Ambulatory surgery (Free)
• Diagnostic imaging interventional procedures ($8)

Those who wish to take advantage of valet parking will be greeted at the Children's Hospital entrance by a valet captain who will accept payment (if any is required), assist you into the Children's Hospital and have your car parked in the Children's Hospital garage. When you are ready to leave, simply call the valet captain at (203) 688-2538 with your claim check number. Your car will be returned to the entrance, ready for your departure.
