About Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital

Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital (YNHPH) provides specialized psychiatric care to adults and adolescents. Psychiatric care for children is provided under the auspices of Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.

YNHPH was formally established in June 2000 when Yale-New Haven Hospital acquired the assets of the former Yale Psychiatric Institute (previously owned by the Yale University). The expertise of each organization was brought to bear to make Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital a leading center for comprehensive clinical care in the treatment of mental illness.

Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital includes a 73-bed psychiatric inpatient facility and a variety of intensive outpatient specialty programs. All together, YNHPH offers a full spectrum of innovative and advanced treatments to adolescents, adults and geriatric patients with psychiatric and substance abuse problems.
