At a dinner held May 20 at the Farms Country Club in Wallingford, YNHH Auxiliary Scholarship Committee Chair Dolores Zamparo presented $1,500 scholarships to eight local students who will pursue an education in the medical and allied health fields.

Scholarship winners were Amanda Pinto of Guilford (Guilford High School); Kathryn Stufano of Madison (Daniel Hand High School); Kaleigh DeBowes of West Haven (Sacred Heart Academy); Anthony Richardson of West Haven (Notre Dame High School); Dana Chung of Orange (Amity Regional High School); Madison Smith and Zachary Sola, both of Wallingford (Lyman Hall High School); and Sabrina Maher of Orange (University of Connecticut).

Since 1953, the YNHH Auxiliary has donated millions of dollars toward hospital programs, services, scholarships, and health education in the community, and made major contributions that most recently included a $1 million pledge to be divided equally between the YNHH Musculoskeletal Center and the Obstetrical and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NNICU) projects. The organization supports a wide variety of programs that continually benefit hospital programs and community outreach efforts, from providing age-appropriate toys to pediatric patients through the Toy Closet program to community-based health education programs. The Auxiliary Board is composed of community leaders, corporate executives, professionals, dedicated parents and employees, all committed to helping Yale New Haven Hospital serve its patients, families and community better.
