Dan-Arin Silasi, MD, uses robotic and conventional laparoscopic surgery to treat women who have cervical, ovarian and uterine cancer with excellent results. Whereas ovarian cancer typically is treated with a large incision, Dr. Silasi specializes in minimally invasive treatment. He is an expert at enabling young women with cancer to remain fertile after surgery, and he has developed techniques for performing robotic surgery for extremely overweight women.

He received his medical degree in his native country Romania, continued his training in the United States and now focuses on gynecologic cancer and complex benign surgeries. His primary surgical tool is the da Vinci System, which makes it possible to conduct complex surgeries with minimal cutting, allowing for quicker recoveries.

Dr. Silasi specializes in minimally invasive treatments for very large fibroids, severe scarring from endometriosis or previous surgeries, and any complex pelvic surgeries. He also performs surgeries for pregnant women, such as robotic abdominal cerclages and removal of pelvic masses.

Dr. Silasi is director of Yale Medicine’s Obesity Robotic Pelvic Surgery Program and an associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at Yale School of Medicine. He is also a director of the International Discovery to Cure Program, which conducts research into early detection and treatment of gynecological cancers, and provides international clinical and research fellowships for physicians. Dr. Silasi has been recognized by Castle Connolly, an organization that conducts peer surveys, as being among the top 1 percent of specialists in the country.
