Erin McMahon, CNM, EdD (doctorate in education), is a certified nurse-midwife who attends births at the Vidone Birthing Center at Yale New Haven Hospital’s Saint Raphael Campus.
“It is an honor and privilege to be present when a new life begins,” McMahon says. “I love establishing relationships with women and families who are seeking midwifery care. And I love helping people and providing them with information that allows them to take an active role in making health care decisions.”
The collaborative practice model at the Vidone Birthing Center, she says, allows nurse- midwives and physicians to bring out the best qualities from both professions.
“Together, we practice with judicious use of interventions to ensure a healthy outcome for mother and child,” she says.
McMahon’s research explores simulation as a training strategy for nurse-midwives.
