Rene Hipona, MD, is an emergency medicine specialist who cares for critically ill and injured patients, as well as people with minor illnesses who come to the emergency department at Yale New Haven Hospital’s Saint Raphael Campus.
“I started in high school wanting to be a physician,” says Dr. Hipona, who had the opportunity to visit accident rooms in the hospital and marvel at the skill of the staff.
The best part of his work is that he sees a diversity of patients with a wide range of problems. “It’s exciting to be able to serve my community, and it’s rewarding to be able to solve their maladies and ease their pain and suffering,” Dr. Hipona says. “With the level of technology we have available I can safely assure patients of their diagnosis and that they will be better after hospitalization or follow-up care.”
